About

The Shared Anti-Racism Portal(SHARP) is an initiative of ActionDignity. ActionDignity is a community-based organization that facilitates the collective voice of Calgary’s ethnocultural communities towards full civic participation and integration through collaborative action.

ActionDignity embraces and promotes the following values:

• Respect for diversity

• Equity and social justice

• Active citizenship and democratic participation

• Collaboration

For nearly 20 years, ActionDignity has been championing anti-racism work and has consistently advocated for ethnocultural engagement in all levels of society. Recently in the last two years, ActionDignity has been advocating for province-wide Anti-racism through our involvement as a core member of the Coalitions Creating Equity. This involvement has led ActionDignity to understand the provincial context of Alberta and to know how to effectively engage with different equity-seeking groups. Throughout these past two years, ActionDignity has facilitated numerous anti-racism conversations and events within Calgary. Examples of these are the Black Intersectionality Panel that was held in October 2018, the Equity in the 2019 Federal Election Event that was held in October 2019, and the five focus groups that were facilitated to engage with groups that had experiences with hate incidents and hate crimes within Calgary.

This project was made possible by funding from the Government of Alberta’s Anti-Racism Community Grant Program.
